Have you noticed
we live in a land of healthy rabbits?
When a Rabbit Eats a Carrot
The rabbit
- Pulls root from ground.
- Shakes off excess soil.
- Happily chomps carrot,
nutrition and all!
But When a Human Eats a Carrot…
Step One
Someone (or Thing)
- Pulls the root vegetable from the ground.
- Shakes off excess soil.
- Tosses carrot into a bin.
- Repeats previous tasks, collecting quantity of carrots to fill bin.
- Moves bin holding collected quantity to a storage area.
- Ships one or more bins of carrots to markets, far or near (optional task).
Step Two
A Human
- Recovers one or more carrots from the bin (or acquires carrots from convenient market).
- Carefully washes each carrot, using stiff bristles to brush clean and scrap outer skin.
- Employs sharp edged tool to remove the now clean outer skin (dietary fiber and all).
- Cuts off and discards carrot top and tip.
At this point the human has an option:
Stop and enjoy crispy nutrition! Or continue…
- Slices carrot(s) into rounds bits, long sticks, or little cubes (as preferred).
- Submerges the bits in a pan of water.
- Applies heat until water boils.
- Continues boiling to leach all nutrition from carrot and soften each limp little bit.
Step Three
Now the Human
- Strains the well-nourished water from pan.
- Discards water down the drain.
- Adds salt (for flavor and hypertension) to hot and soggy carrots remaining in pan.
- Adds butter (more taste and heart disease) to salty carrot pieces.
- Serves carrot remnants on plate, next to a large dose of fat and protein.
- Assumes daily requirement for vegetable nutrition is now complete.
